keahi, kahanu, & kala’iku
it was a pleasure to photograph logan and sara, who came all the way from colorado to get married in hawai’i! the first afternoon when we met, we took a few photos at the temple and hit the beach for a gorgeous sunset … and to our luck early the next morning, we jumped into some of the clearest i’ve ever seen at this sandy beach off the kona coast. talk about meant to be.
Here’s a massive collection of photos from the month of May. Such an amazing month! Below are some photos featuring adventurer Alison Teal, RareForm ambassador Donica Shouse, Ina’s Boobie Shack hats, and professional athlete Jenny Kalmbach.
All of these were taken on a GoPro Hero3 (+ basic colour correction). You can check out my write-up about what settings I use on the GoPro + more photos, here: ttp://blog.vivantvie.com/2013/03/21/review-goprohero3/
So, I am OBSESSED with surf leggings, especially the ones Danielle Clayton / Salt Gypsy has been making … so when Donica Shouse got a pair, we had to test them in the water. ;) These comfy leggings have saved my legs many times the past few months from reef cuts and sunburn.
All of these photos were taken with an Outex housing, Canon 7d, and 70-200/4.
Have you ever opened your eyes, diving under a wave in the sea? It is such an ethereal experience – physically and visually. Floating, swimming, and dancing beneath the clouds of breaking waves in the sea is such a freeing and “present” experience. Yet I have found it is a realm foreign and mysterious to most, even those fortunate enough to live near the sea.
Late last year, I was commissioned to photograph forte_forte’s 10th anniversary collection “beneath the clouds” of the sea and portray this concept with their Summer’13 capsule collection, designed by Giada Forte. Here are some of the final results:
kahanu, keahi, and kala’iku, playing in the warmth of the waning sun.
finally back home after the past few months of travelling through australia, the grand canyon, and california. surfing once, if not twice a day was the prescription after such a length of time away from my favourite warm hawaiian water. here’s a few visual highlights and half-sentence anecdotes from the month of november:
I love people who love the ocean! (and who are comfortable in the water!) Cindy is one of these people – laid back, glowing, and willing to try anything – and I was happy to spend the morning on the Kona Coast and take some portrait and underwater photos of her. :)
Here’s a few photos, taken on a GoPro Hero2 with Alison’s Adventures. Check out photos taken on a GoPro Hero3 here: http://blog.vivantvie.com/2013/03/02/review-goprohero3/
